When a chimney needs re-lining it can be a very expensive process with disruption and a fair bit of mess, but it doesn't need to be.
There are three main ways to re-line a chimney, these being:
The first method is taken on by a specialist company, offering a system where a former is put down the chimney and a wet thermacrete mixture is pumped into the twin skin. When the mixture sets, the liner is removed and the thermacrete is left in situ, with a smooth bore finish from top to bottom.
This method is quick and clean, but expensive and requires scaffolding.
The second method is where a twin wall, high grade, stainless steel liner is pulled down the chimney, following the internal contours. The liner is connected to a bespoke gather unit at the bottom and fixed at the top through a plate, new pot and suspended cowl.
This method is quick, clean and the cheapest of the three options. We undertake this system.
The third method is done by opening up the chimney breast and inserting sectional clay liners all the way up. This method is very disruptive, very messy and requires lots of re-bricking and plastering, also very expensive.
We use only the best 904 grade, stainless steel liners with a thirty year guarantee.
